Hear Us Project
Hear Us Project
At Deaf Active, we believe everyone deserves a safe space to be heard.
Our Hear Us project supports Deaf children and young people, Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs), parents, and families by providing accessible mental health and wellbeing programmes delivered in both British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English.
Through dedicated groups for boys and young men, girls and young women, and family wellbeing sessions, participants can connect with others who understand their experiences, build confidence, and talk openly in a supportive, judgement-free environment.
Using creative activities, sport, mindfulness, and guided discussions, we help young people explore their emotions, develop positive coping strategies, and strengthen their mental wellbeing. Families also benefit from opportunities to improve communication, reduce isolation, and build stronger relationships together.
By creating culturally appropriate, inclusive spaces led by staff with lived experience of Deaf culture, Hear Us empowers individuals to speak openly about their mental health, develop resilience, and know they are never alone.
